A female in her 80 s developed a cerebral infarction in July 2011. In May 2015, oral nutrition
became difficult for cerebral infarction aftereffects. In September 2015, the blood pressure
increased, and treatment using Bisoprolol Tape(Bisono® Tape 4 mg)was initiated. The blood
pressure decreased, but her family reported her dry skin. Scratching due to scaly skin became
marked daily. Collaborating with the physician, we used Heparinoid Ointment(Hirudoid®
Soft-Ointment), and the scratching disappeared, resulting in improvement of the dry skin.
The number of elderly patients who oral nutrition became difficult and care recipents is
increasing. But the skin of the elderly person is exsiccation, and pruritus may be caused by
patch. Therefore Maintaining a normal skin condition maintains the role of the skin as the
administration route for transdermal patches. It is significant for pharmacists to apply patch to
patients in light of their skin condition.
